Welcome to my new website!
After 4 years on another website, I've decided to try a new and more accessible venue to display my photographs. This new website is the product of about 2 months of preparation, and is drastically different than my last attempt at a web presence. Here you will find a much wider variety of photographs than I have previously shown.
I've spent the last 8+ years exploring and honing my vision as a photographer. I've been able to learn and grow and develop a sense of what it is I do best photographically, both aesthetically and technically. Yes, it's been a lot of hard work with many failures. There has also been a lot of pure joy with some wonderful successes. I am incessantly called by the tiny interplay of creatures and forces in the natural world. I have noted a tendency for me to be drawn to photograph tiny moments, brief interludes, things which are impermanent or hardly noticeable. I also seem drawn to abstract patterns in ordinary situations. Occasionally a large landscape will arrest my attention due to the interplay of the light and the feeling the scene evokes in me, but more often it is the little, rather than the large, that captivates me. I am reminded of a passage from the poem "Ode to Things", in Pablo Neruda's book Odes to Common Things, which resonates with my view of the everyday, the ordinary:
I invite you to wander through the galleries of images on the website and return with eyes refreshed to the daily parade of exquisite miracles waiting to be noticed. Enjoy!
